Stainless Steel INOX and Architectural Elements
To preserve its properties, stainless steel INOX requires regular, thorough cleaning in accordance with maintenance standards. Why is this so important? Although the name “stainless steel” might suggest complete resistance to corrosion, under certain conditions rust can still occur.
The most common cause of rust formation is the accumulation of iron particles. On architectural elements, these typically appear in two forms: airborne dust from the atmosphere or residue from processing carbon steel carried out near stainless steel surfaces. Both types of contamination should be removed promptly; otherwise, they can lead to rust stains and streaks.
Cleaning should be performed especially in environments with aggressive or heavily polluted atmospheres (urban, coastal, or industrial areas).
Outdoor Stainless Steel Structures
We rarely think about cleaning buildings where parts of the façade are made of stainless steel – after all, rain often takes care of that. However, occasional rainfall might not be sufficient. Some elements, such as railings under roofs, remain partially sheltered from rain and are more likely to accumulate airborne dust deposits, which can lead to localized corrosion.
