Cleaning Stainless Steel (Inox) – How to Do It Properly?

Just like any other material in regular use, stainless steel occasionally requires a bit of maintenance. Today at INOX Polska, we’ll show you how to effectively clean stainless steel at home. What products give the best results, and which cleaning methods should you avoid? Let’s find out!

How to Clean Stainless Steel (Inox) – The Basics

Every cleaning product applied to a stainless steel surface must be thoroughly rinsed off, and the surface should be wiped completely dry. Even cleaning products specifically designed for stainless steel should be used carefully and according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The same applies to cleaners containing chlorides – improper use, such as leaving the product on the surface too long or failing to rinse it off completely, can lead to corrosion. Don’t be misled by the label “safe for stainless steel” – vigilance is still necessary!

Cleaning Stainless Steel (Inox) at Home

For cleaning stainless steel at home to be truly effective, a few key principles should be followed. The most important factor is the choice of cleaning cloth or sponge. Always use soft materials or fabrics – their delicate texture prevents scratches. The second key factor is the cleaning agent. The best choice includes products dedicated to chrome and stainless steel, such as wax-based pastes, aerosols, or cleaners containing mineral, silicone, or paraffin oils. Glass cleaning sprays can also be used for maintenance.

To keep your stainless steel elements in excellent condition, avoid using:

  • silver cleaning agents,
  • bleaching products,
  • strong construction chemicals (e.g. products containing hydrochloric acid),
  • steel wool pads,
  • concentrated products containing chlorine.
